WHAT IS THE BEST SHOWER SCREEN FOR WATER RETENTION?Framed shower screens are considered the best at keeping water in place because all the components overlap when closed. This minimises the risk of any water leakage. On the other hand, semi-frameless, frameless, shower panels, and bath screens have sections where there are openings between the glass or panels. This unfortunately can increase the chance of water escaping.

WHAT TYPE OF GLASS IS USED IN SHOWER SCREENSFramed shower screens and panels utilize 6.38mm laminated safety glass, which is enclosed at all edges. This eliminates the need for holes in the glass, making laminated (A Grade safety glass) a highly suitable choice. Its structural integrity, combined with its aesthetic appeal, makes it an exceptional option for shower installations. Semi-frameless and frameless shower screens utilise toughened glass for its superior strength and to showcase the exposed edges. Semi-frameless glass is usually 6mm thick, while frameless shower screen glass boasts a thickness of 10mm.
-
WHAT IS SHOWER SCREEN LAMINATED GLASS?Laminated safety glass is constructed by bonding two pieces of 3mm float glass with a PVB plastic inner layer. In the event of an impact that causes the glass to break, the laminated glass will stay intact within the frame, despite being shattered into pieces. Laminated glass cannot be utilised in semi-frameless and frameless shower screens due to the vulnerability of the exposed edges, which weaken its integrity.
-
WHAT IS TOUGHENED GLASS IN SHOWER SCREENS?Toughened glass refers to glass that undergoes heat treatment after being precisely cut to size, including any necessary cut outs for shower screens such as holes or hinges. This Grade A safety glass is essential for semi-frameless and frameless shower screens due to its exposed edges, requiring added strength for optimal performance. The toughening process takes place after accurately cutting the glass to size. Subsequently, the glass undergoes heat treatment, altering its internal molecular structure. This enhances the glass's durability and strength, while retaining its original dimensions. As a result, the glass achieves a strength that is 4-5 times greater than that of regular glass. If this reinforced glass experiences a significant impact, it will break into small, cube-like pieces. This design feature prioritises safety, as these tiny cubes are less likely to cause severe injuries compared to larger glass shards of standard glass

CAN SHOWER SCREENS BE ADAPTED TO ACCOMODATE DISABLED ACCESS?Absolutely, our fixed framed and frameless shower screens are perfect for disabled access; Shower screen panels can be set at any width, which can allow for wheelchairs, shower chairs and room for two people if needed.
